Chanel Le Vernis Holiday 2022 Review: We Swatched The Shades & They Are Stunning

We're deep in party season, which means one thing only: glow-up time. Luckily, Chanel has come through with the glitziest, glammest holiday beauty collection possible, which includes three truly delicious party-ready Le Vernis nail shades.

Of course, Chanel is notorious for its luxurious takes on timeless classics, and in true form, the brand has stuck to what it does best, delivering a sophisticated range of traditional and aspirational colours that can amp up your mani in a few seconds.

The shades are mineral-inspired and include a golden khaki with a molten, kaleidoscopic finish. There's a deep red that's decadently glossy. And there's a universal golden shimmer top coat that you can wear alone, or atop any other nail shade you fancy.

Now that sounds like a bit of us, so we decided to put the new Chanel Le Vernis to the test. Here's what five GLAMOUR staffers thought when they took the polishes for a spin…

Shade: Etoile

Full disclaimer, I already have my nails done. I'd recently opted for some pink fire nail art (literally), and I'm truly obsessed with it. However, I just felt like something was missing. When it comes to my nails, more is more. So I decided to go over them with the Chanel Le Vernis Etoile top coat to see if the sparkle would amp up my final look. And, boy, did it do that – in seconds, too.

The brush is thin enough to contour the nail bed but big enough so that you only need two-to-three strokes to cover the whole nail with pigment. The polish dries quickly (and bonus, it's perfect for distracting from any nail chipping or growth). It's super versatile so you can apply it over gel nails, SNS, nail art or normal polish. It simply creates an added shimmer to your once dull-looking fingernails, and it truly stands the test of time, which is one of the many benefits of a clear top coat.

Upon drying, there is a tad bit of texture left on the nail from the varnish, but other than that, I'm sold. In fact, I've been non-stop staring at my fingers as I type this. Mesmerised.

Shade: Clair De Lune

I've got to be honest; I barely use nail polish. I've never really been able to find a polish that truly stands the test of time and wear. However, when I got offered the chance to test out the Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Polish, I thought, 'Longwear? I'm sold; let's test this out'. I had to try it and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

The product is easy to use, the same as any nail polish. Although, you do definitely need to apply a few coats to stop any sheerness on the nail. Once the product was applied, it managed to stay on for days. Not to mention the colour I tried – the khaki-gold Clair De Lune – is absolutely gorgeous and super-rich. It's really shiny and reflects a lovely light. It’s such a bold statement. Perfect for the autumn-winter season.

Shade: Super Lune

I must admit, I'm a gel nail girl through and through – despite the damage I cause by picking them off. So when asked to try out the new Chanel Le Vernis polish in Super Lune, it was a welcome alternative to go back to basics and give my nails a well-needed break. On application, I was shocked at how gel-like the product actually is. It's super glossy, and with just one coat, there is zero transparency in the colour. Of course, adding another gives a much deeper tone and better shine. If you’re like me and have zero patience when painting your own nails (hence my love of gels), then you will love this product. It has a rapid drying time of about five minutes, so if you're eternally busy, this one's for you. Super Lune is the perfect colour for the festive season. The deep rouge goes with any outfit while making its own statement. I love this product so much I think DIY-style manicures might be due for a comeback.

Shade: Etoile

Chanel has always done grown-up glitz so well. I wouldn't normally opt for glittery nails, but when they look this chic, I'll take it. I love that the brand keeps it sophisticated with slightly more off-beat colours like the khaki green, alongside classics with a twist like the glossy red.

The gold Etoile top coat is especially clever since you can use it to upgrade your existing mani as a top coat (I layered it over my black gels to make them party-ready in under two minutes), or you can apply it to a bare base or a colour of your choosing for a very pretty and subtle shimmer. LOVE.

Shade: Clair De Lune

I'm normally not a fan of metallic nail polish, but this khaki shade infused with gold immediately caught my eye. It's such an unusual shade and hits that elusive sweet spot of adding extra glamour to a party look while not being too sparkly or glitzy. I love how the shade changes depending on how the light hits and its chic after-dark vibe.
