Swyft Sofa Review: Does The Best Selling Product Hold Up?

We'll admit, we've been searching for a top notch Swyft sofa review since 2019 when the brand first launched with its Model 03 sofa. Now, three years on, Swyft is bigger than ever, and if you needed a nudge to diminish any lingering doubt surrounding the new brand's quality, customer service and USP, it's stocked in-store and online with John Lewis & Partners for extra consumer ease of mind.

The USP in question is based around the idea that buying furniture shouldn't be such an endeavour. From long delivery times to ordeals around getting the furniture into your tight-cornered home, buying furniture in 2022 can not only be expensive but, quite frankly, a mission.

Naturally, that's the gap in the market Swyft set out to fill.

Offering buyers checkout-to-door delivery within 48 hours, in addition to a modular sofa-in-a-box makeup to ensure their products can fit through the smallest of loft entryways and, lastly, a no-tools-required assembly system, Swyft is the Gen-Z of the furniture world and it'll leave you wondering why you ever spent 24 hours assembling a certain Swedish manufacturer's flat pack click-clack sofa bed

Onto our review:

The product: the brand's newest model, Model 06

With plush scatter cushions, a flush to-the-floor upholstery and a generous 13 colourways in the brand's signature stain-resistant fabrics, the Model 06 sofa from Swyft is high-end, sophisticated and suited to first-time sofa buyers and time-earned homeowners alike. For buyers on a tighter budget, why not opt for a 2-seater starter sofa and, as savings accumulate over the years, simply upgrade with additional modules as you can afford to do so. Likewise for consumers with a well-filled home, the Swyft world is your oyster. An accent chair for your bedroom? They've got you! A three-seater corner sofa now you've got a hoard of grandkids coming for Christmas? Not a problem. The Model 06 sets out to fit into your lifestyle, so here's how we got on with it in a limited space one-bedroom flat.

The assignment

I'll be honest, my flat is not big. Anyone who lives in London knows how expensive the rent is, so a one bedroom flat with a size of probably no more than 50²ft all-in is what we're working with. My hallway/entrance way has a total width of 1 metre and the doorway to the living room where the sofa will actually be going offers even less than that, perhaps 75cm. I (shamefully) own no power tools and have quite a small window to be at home for the delivery, as I go into the office twice a week - in summary, Swyft have a lot of limitations…

The process

I opted for the Swyft Model 06 in teal velvet and a 2-seater sofa size - I already one have one two-seater sofa in my living space, so the new sofa needed to sit perpendicular and create a welcoming L-shaped seating area.

Once the order was placed, the home customer service team kept me informed at every stage of the delivery and, the night before the aptly-named ‘swift’ delivery, Panther - the shipping service the brand uses - contacted me to let me know my delivery window. If you have a small recycling bin, it's a huge bonus that the delivery men/women will actually unbox your sofa for you and take away the packaging. I didn't opt for this service, but it certainly provided me with peace of mind to know it was an option.

When the sofa actually arrived, it came in about six boxes, split into the base modules, backrests, back cushions and arm and seat cushions. The boxes may be tall and wide, but their depth was no more than 30cm, so they fit through my front door and narrow halls with no qualms.

In terms of self-assembly, I sent my S/O out with the cardboard for each box and, no word of a lie, I had put the sofa together by the time he'd returned. It really was a simple as one, two, three and the quick-slot U-hooks which seamlessly link together the modules and back rests meant that I didn't need to do the dreaded trek upstairs to see if any neighbours had a drill I could borrow. All in all, the delivery and assembly was everything you'd expect from a brand named Swyft.

Our Swyft sofa review verdict

I've had my Swyft sofa now since the first week of July and I honestly couldn't be more impressed. The cushions - despite not being feather-filled - haven't deflated one bit, spillages trickle off the fabric better than my hi-tech waterproof jacket and the vacuum cleaner picks up any dust or lint that accumulates oh-so-easily.

I have no doubt that in years to come in bigger apartments/properties I'll be jumping at the chance to add an ottoman or chaise footstool, if not buying another module entirely to make a 3 seater. Admittedly, I do wish the prices aligned more with the average young professional salary but I will give it to the brand on the grounds that their furniture is designed to usurp your old sofa/bed for good and, naturally, this means it's going to be an investment. Plus, the 100 day trial ensures you don't end up stuck with an expensive product you don't want, and a 100 year frame guarantee really sets you up for success long-term. Not to mention, the designs as a whole - from the best selling chunky and snug Swyft model 03 to the all-new Swyft beds - are next level desirable and available in a whole host of mid century, contemporary and traditional pin-tuck designs to suit your space. All in all, Swyft furniture is wishlist worthy and, if this buying guide isn't convincing you, why not check out these Swyfthome reviews
